FWK Distributed Stability Control Device/System

Functions

  • FWK can be used for the local control of a single plant/substation of various voltage levels or to form a regional stability control system.
  • FWK regional stability control system consists of one main control station, several sub-control stations and terminal stations, with data communication channels being the link between control stations and between a station and the dispatching center. Such a system protects a regional power network by identifying the current power system operation condition, detecting faults, and taking control actions (such as generator tripping, load shedding and system islanding, etc.) according to a preset control table.
  • FWK for local stability control of large plants/substations uses local measurements and a few remote signals to solve local network's problem of transient stability, voltage stability, frequency stability and over-loading etc.
  • FWK can be used for the quick switching of plant auxiliary power of large generators.
  • FWK can distinguish between various fault scenarios such as temporary single line-to-ground, permanent single line-to-ground, line-to-line, double line-to-ground, line tripping, out-of-step oscillation and over-loading etc. of feeder lines, main transformers and buses.
  • FWK automatically selects generators to be tripped according to the specified criterion.
  • FWK has been proved to be on the world-class level of technology, design, quality, reliability.

Features

  • FWK hardware consists of functional modules which can be easily assembled according to the requirements of various types of stability control devices/systems. 
  • FWK software consists of several standard modules and a special control decision table module, which facilitates quick formation of a new system and ease of software modification.
  • FWK supports fast communication between control stations and between stations and the dispatching center, which improves the performance of regional stability control systems and makes it possible to remotely modify settings and control table. 
  • With its good expandability FWK is adaptive to the development of power systems and therefore can be easily upgraded to the on-line stability analysis based control scheme.
  • As a new feature FWK is equipped with an embedded computer with an enlarged screen and more friendly MMI.
  • Other functions include self-testing, self-diagnosis, event recording, data recording, printing, disk saving and remote data transmission etc.

  • Authenticated by the Yunnan Provincial Power Company for the Caopu-Manwan Stability Control System in June 1996
  • Authenticated by the Ministry of Electric Power for the Beilungang Stability Control System of Zhejiang Province in October 1995
  • Awarded a "second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award" by the State Power Corporation in 2000
  • Awarded a "second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award" by the Government of China in 2001

Engineering Applications

  • 20 years' experience of industrial service in all power systems of China 
  • More than 200 sets commissioned and 50 large/middle scale stability control projects completed since 1994
  • Applied to several State Key Projects including the stability control systems of 500kV Ertan power system in Sichuan Province in July 2001, 500kV Yangcheng-Jiangsu-East China power system in July 2001 and West-East transmission of Sichuan power in 2002.
