OPS-1 On-line Pre-decision System for Power System Emergency Control Background The development of modern power networks highlights the problem of stability, and the adaptability of stability control systems is essential to the secure and economic operation of large power systems. OPS-1's adaptability comes from its capability of generating control decisions that always fit the system's current operating condition. OPS-1 can allow increased utilization of grid assets , avoid power system blackout and minimizes control cost, resulting in a significant financial and social benefit. Principle Of Operation OPS-1 integrates a unique technique for the quantitative analysis of general motion stability into an object oriented distributed parallel processing platform and a distributed stability control device. It follows the current power system operating point, performs on-line stability calculation for a specified set of fault scenarios by using the stability margin provided by EEAC in order to obtain control decisions which make the system sufficiently stable at the minimum cost, and then periodically refreshes the decision table stored in the control device. Therefore it is adaptive to the development and change of operation of power systems. Key Techniques
Features
Authentication OPS-1's world-class level of technology, design, quality, reliability and application has been authenticated by the State Power Corporation in October 2002, particularly for its world-wide original contribution of quantitative stability analysis technology based on whole process trajectories, optimal control decision searching technology based on whole modeling and non-linear optimization, fault scenario oriented parallel processing platform, coordination technology of various types of control measures and control decision making technology of multi-swing instability. Engineering Applications
Off-line capabilities of OPS-1's optimal decision search software OPS-1's core software is a powerful yet easy-to-use program that can be used for the off-line calculation of control decision table.
