OPEN-2000 EMS Energy Management System

 Introduction

OPEN-2000 EMS integrates SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), AGC (automatic generation control), PAS (power application software), DTS (dispatcher training simulator), DMS (distribution management system) and DMIS (dispatching management information system) together, features advanced technologies, widely adopted applications, perfect performances, maturity and high reliability, and conforms to IEC870-6 series TASE.2 protocol standards. It is ideal for power dispatching centers of regional, provincial, large and medium scale local power networks.

This system passed Jiangsu Province Scientific Achievement Appraisal in 1999 and is granted first grade of Jiangsu Provincial Scientific and Technology Progress Award.

  • Unified supporting platform design to meet various application requirements in the field of measurement and control.
  • Fully open real-time system, high expansibility, adaptable for various hardware platforms (RISC servers and workstations of ALPHA, SUN and IBM, and PC).
  • Main nodes adopt redundant configuration; the database server can adopt disc array and cluster techniques.
  • Network data sharing mechanism of distributed real-time database is adopted to ensure minimum network flow.
  • Real-time system based on ORACLE/SYBASE business database makes full use of the versatility of the business database and fastness of the real-time database.
  • Power system object-oriented database building method fully satisfies the requirements of unified graphic maintenance.
  • The trunk LAN uses dynamic homeostatic high-speed dual-switch Ethernet with IEEE 802.3 protocol to make full use of network resources.
  •  Novel data acquisition subsystem: using SCADA server + Ethernet + terminal server + switchable D/A channel, supporting acquisition of network RTU and special D/A channel of RTU, as well as redundant acquisition ports switching.
  • For RTU data acquisition protocol: supporting IEC 60870-5-104 and DNP 3.0 protocols for network RTU, IEC 60870-5-101, N4F, SC1801 and CDT RTU protocols, as well as user defined protocols.
  • Using IEC870-6 series TASE.2 protocol and DL476-92 to accomplish communications between control centers or among individual systems inside control center.
  • With INTERNET, INTRANET, JAVA and Web browsing techniques, the management personnel can acquire knowledge of power network situation to realize customer maintenance free.
  • Sufficient software and hardware measures for network security and data security.
  • Friendly MMI to minimize customization work.

The system has already been used in dozens of large and medium power dispatching centers including Northwest Regional Dispatching Center, Jiangsu Provincial Dispatching Center, Chongqing City Dispatching Center, Hainan Provincial Dispatching Center, Yunnan Provincial Dispatching Center and Guangxi Autonomous Region Dispatching Center, etc.
